If you have followed ellen j goods for awhile, you know that collecting antique German grain sacks has been Lynne’s passion. With German immigrant great grandparents who were farm laborers, factory workers and musicians, working with German grain sacks is even more special to her because She has been able to use her  Dad’s upholstery tools when using  these special textiles on furniture. For ten years, Lynne catalogued most of the sacks  with photographs before using them to upholster. Each represents a farmers name, his village and the year. Many also represent the farm’s business. According to tradition, a man went from farm to farm with a custom made stencil and was hired to personalize the sacks.
